N E Lincolnshire shares the LOVE with new recycling lorry WRAP campaign

North East Lincolnshire Council has wrapped its new fleet of 10 recycling vehicles with epic scenes that celebrate the borough’s beaches, parks and green spaces.

The vehicles, all 26t Dennis Eagle Elite 6 with electric bin lifts, are part of a campaign to encourage people to look after the environment on their doorstep. The messages ‘LOVE’, ‘Let’s take care of it’ and ‘Put litter in a bin or take it home’ on the vehicles help to reinforce the aims of the campaign.

Each vehicle is unique and features a different ‘postcard’ image on each side. There are twenty spectacular images in total featuring local attractions and locations including Cleethorpes Beach, Weelsby Woods and People’s Park as well as lesser-known places across the borough where people enjoy nature. Residents were invited to suggest locations near where they live during a council appeal held in September.

People were also invited to name the new vehicles, which are being rolled out on the recycling bin rounds before Christmas, and the chosen names will be revealed soon.

The vehicle wrapping was carried out by experts at Creative Vehicle Wrapping (CVW) who worked with graphic designers at North-East Lincolnshire Council to create the campaign artwork. The images were provided by photography agency Double Red. The body of each vehicle has been fully wrapped and each side features a different image of parks, attractions and locations across Lincolnshire.

Cllr Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for Environment and Transport at North East Lincolnshire Council, said:

“From the Fitties Beach to the River Freshney, and the Lincolnshire Wolds to Weelsby Woods, our new campaign aims to emphasise what a thriving, lush environment we are lucky to have in North East Lincolnshire.

“The 10 new vehicles are like a rolling gallery with giant postcards from different parts of the borough. The image quality is superb thanks to the team at CVW who did a fantastic job with the vinyl wrapping.

“It’s more important than ever that we look after our local environment. The new campaign reminds us that there is one simple way we can all do our bit, and that is to put litter in a bin or take it home.”

The wraps were included as part of the social value element of Dennis Eagle’s contract to supply the vehicles, which replace 10 old vehicles purchased by the council in 2011. The council’s waste and recycling fleet comprises a total of 29 vehicles, which are used for domestic waste, recycling, garden waste, bring to sites and food waste.

Jonathan Thomas, Director, Creative Vehicle Wrapping: “We really enjoyed working on this campaign with North East Lincolnshire Council. Our team’s expertise in vinyl wrapping and in-depth knowledge of refuse vehicles was crucial in ensuring the images were reproduced and applied to the highest possible standards. The results speak for themselves, and the fleet looks fantastic. This is a first for us, where each vehicle has a completely different design, and we hope it will change the way people view refuse trucks.  Using them as slow-moving billboards is an innovative and effective way to communicate with local people.”

The CVW team are experts in commercial and specialist vehicle wrapping, providing a one-stop shop for design consultancy, installation, and aftercare. The company has its own fully equipped installation unit and has built a reputation for creating impactful ‘wrap’ campaigns on refuse vehicles and specialist commercial vehicles.
